The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a commercial, proactive, and collaborative Commercial Lawyer to join our high-performing FPI Legal team.

Reporting directly to the General Manager – Legal Australia, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality legal outcomes across the Australian business. By partnering closely with our commercial and development teams, as well as the other members of the legal team, you will act as a trusted advisor, helping to manage risk while finding practical, customer-centric paths to "yes."

This is a highly visible, cross-state role where your expertise will directly contribute to the success of key land acquisitions, development projects, and major leasing transactions.

What you’ll do

• Manage end-to-end property transactions, including preparing, reviewing, and negotiating documents for leasing, land sales, and land acquisitions.
• Provide expert drafting and advice on planning and development arrangements, construction contracts, consultancy agreements, utility/authority agreements, and confidentiality terms.
• Partner with business units to deliver practical, commercial, and risk-aware legal solutions that align with Frasers' progressive customer values.
• Instruct and collaborate with external legal counsel, ensuring external services are delivered efficiently, on time, and within agreed budgets.
• Lead transaction handovers by conducting key meetings with commercial teams to clearly outline major commercial terms, risks, and ongoing commitments.
• Drive legal productivity and innovation by updating precedent databases, managing file management systems, and leveraging cutting-edge AI and legal technology tools.

What you’ll bring

• LLB qualification and admission (or eligibility for admission) to practice as a solicitor in Australia.
• At least 5 years of legal experience within a reputable law firm or in-house legal team, with a strong, dedicated focus on property law.
• Proven commercial leasing expertise, with a deep understanding of core leasing principles and negotiation dynamics.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with a natural ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships across diverse business functions.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage multiple transactions independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong tech-savviness, including proficiency in DocuSign, virtual data rooms (Ansarada/Intralinks), and a demonstrated curiosity or ability to leverage generative AI tools to drive productivity.
